The Cauldron has arrived

The Cauldron has arrived

“The Cauldron – Craft Connect” is a new project in Docklands that has been initiated through the Docklands Stakeholder Group via the City of Melbourne.

The aim of this project is community connection via inclusive social crafting sessions.

Weekly social crafting nights have begun, as well as a charity crafting project teaching and making knitted toys for the charity KOGO, (Knit One Give One).

Participants can BYO their own personal craft projects to the social gatherings or be supplied with kits to create toys suitable for donation.

As the project develops, future craft classes in multiple disciplines are expected to be added to the program, as are daytime and weekend social crafting sessions. We hope to also expand our reach to assist more charity crafting projects too.

If you are a crafter with the ability to teach a “craft” to small groups of Docklands local residents and workers, we would love to hear from you. This can be anything from traditional knitting and crochet to paper crafts or even poetry and illustration.

Currently social craft meeting nights are generally held on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm at The Hub, and occasionally at a local venue such as the meeting on July 23, which was held at Docklands Den in NewQuay, giving crafters the opportunity to have a meal and a cuppa while getting to know one another.

Find them on Facebook, or on Instagram and keep an eye on the socials with the resident-based FB groups being a key conduit for community connection.
