New trams for Docklands

E-Class trams are now running in Docklands on Route 11 from West Preston.
It’s the first time the new Melbourne built trams have run outside Route 96.
According to Minister for Public Transport, the move was great news for passengers on Route 11, which is one of Melbourne’s busiest tram routes.
The E-Class trams are 33 metres long and have the capacity to carry more than 200 people. They are also Melbourne’s most accessible trams with a low-floor design, wide doorways and dedicated spaces for wheelchairs, scooters and prams.
Tram stops along Collins St are being upgraded to accommodate the new trams make them safer and more accessible.
