On the lookout for a new local hangout, space to connect or somewhere to enjoy a delicious meal? Look no further than Docklands’ newest accommodation provider Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands.

Having taken over the hotel formerly operated by Four Points Sheraton at 443 Docklands Drive in April this year, the new Vibe Hotel has wasted no time settling into the Docklands community.

Operating under the TFE Hotels group, Vibe is an Australian hotel brand founded in Sydney in 2003 that boasts a proud legacy of providing high-quality, relaxed and engaging hospitality Aussies are renowned for.

With hotels across most capital cities across the country, the new Docklands hotel represents Vibe’s second presence here in Melbourne, joining the existing property at 1 Queen St in the CBD.

Docklands News caught up with Vibe Hotel Docklands general manager Nigel Maxey last month, who said when it came to taking over the space here in Docklands “the shoe fits perfectly” with its brand and approach to community.

“Vibe is an authentic Australian-born hotel brand, and Vibe Docklands is reflective of this style of hospitality from our drink and dine offerings to the team culture our people represent,” Mr Maxey said.

It has a very welcoming feel, and the team is highly engaged. From the moment you arrive it is that calming, relaxed ambience that reflects the Aussie lifestyle and very much represents how we deliver in terms of service and the offerings we have.

“With Docklands, we knew it was a strong hotel. Since moving in, I have immersed myself into the local community – The District, Docklands Chamber of Commerce and the locals have been very welcoming.”

With that same sense of community spirit in mind, Mr Maxey said his team had sought to find ways of engaging with and supporting other local businesses in the area, from The District Docklands to Urban Alley Brewery, which supplies its beer.

And, whether it be a morning coffee, evening drink or a meal throughout the day, Mr Maxey said the hotel’s restaurant, Storehouse Docklands, had all Docklanders culinary needs covered with an inviting space geared for all-day dining.

Storehouse offers a full hot buffet breakfast and an inspiring a-la-carte dinner menu comprising a range of classics from Porterhouse Steak and Atlantic Salmon to Wild Mushroom Risotto and Buffalo Fried Chicken Burger.

Locals can also enjoy daily happy hour between 4pm and 6pm with $8 house drinks – a “good opportunity”, according to Mr Maxey, to pop in, meet the team and enjoy its relaxed atmosphere.

“We’ve seen a lot of businesses and locals coming in,” he said. “It’s a great space to meet and mingle - it’s got that welcoming feel of home.”

“You can stop by for a takeaway coffee, catch up with someone or get your laptop out and do some work... It’s not hotel guest exclusive. It’s a very open space that welcomes everyone.” •
