The Yarra has much to offer a Boatie

The Yarra has much to offer a Boatie

On the weekend of May 15 and 16 Marina YE hosted the Royal Victoria Motor Yacht Club’s Yarra River excursion.

A trip up the Yarra by boat is limited to small or low craft and although, an attractive option, it is out of the reach of the majority of boats because of their size.

Marina YE provided an excellent venue to commence the journey up river. While many of the boats that visited Marina YE were far too large for such a journey up river they did in most cases carry small tenders which proved perfect for the Yarra River excursion.

The fleet arrived on Saturday and enjoyed the usual Marina YE hospitality before launching their tenders on Sunday morning for the journey upstream and barbeque lunch on Herring Island.

A number of smaller boats from the club joined the fleet of tenders at Marina YE before they departed on their cruise.

They certainly presented an unusual sight as they pulled away from the marina on their way upstream.

The fleet arrived back at Marina YE around 5pm when the tenders were hoisted back on board their respective vessels.

The journey along the Yarra River enjoying the views of the city buildings and parklands was an excellent way to spend a fine sunny Sunday in May and opened another perspective to a Marina in the centre of our wonderful city.

The expedition was enjoyed by all those who participated.
