About Docklands

Historically, Docklands was actually a swamp, home to wildlife and plenty of vegetation – an ideal area for the Wurundjeri people who lived off the land. Industrialisation led to the destruction of the area over the years though – during the goldrush in the 1850s, Victoria Dock (now Victoria Harbour) was created to meet the demands of increased migration to the area. By 1860, Docklands became an industrial hub, and was home to gas works, the railway industry, and much more.

Since then, the area has become a much more urban space, famed for its impressive skyscrapers, scenic waterfront, and wide range of facilities. From a long list of places ideal for students, here are just a few:

Library at The Dock

Every student needs a trip to the library on occasion, and the Library at The Dock is one of the best. Far more than just books, this cutting-edge centre serves as a lively community hub aimed at assisting students in all kinds of educational pursuits. The library provides a range of educational settings, transitioning from solitary work zones to joint sections dedicated to group assignments.
