Strategic goals for 2020

Strategic goals for 2020

By Shane Wylie, media director

The Docklands Chamber of Commerce (DCC) hosted its annual planning day on November 28 with our new executive committee, which is still being led by long-term president Johanna Maxwell.

It’s an annual chance for new and old voices to direct the attention of the chamber for the coming year. Along with continued action on behalf of the entire precinct, continued planning, lobbying and financing of the business plan and ultimate development of an activation for Victoria Harbour was agreed upon as our major initiative. This business plan will shortly be released for community consultation and we hope it is met with as much excitement as by those that have already seen it. This is a long-term promise by the chamber to the Docklands community that we firmly believe permanent activation of the Harbour is the key to the prosperity of the precinct.

Docklands Business Awards

We have launched the Docklands Business Awards for the year 2020. docklandsbusinessawards.com.au is the host site for registrations and information for this formal gala event on February 15, 2020. All DCC members are open to enter the awards – that means tough competition with over 200 businesses eligible across nine categories. A formal evening including three course meal, drinks and wonderful entertainment by the very talented Alex Rose will keep everyone enthralled. We also have sponsorship packages available for businesses interested with five of these already taken up. They can also be viewed from the home page above. All minor sponsorships of the event have been taken up with only the naming rights sponsor left available. At the time of writing we already have entrants in every category and the excitement is building.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Australia Day

As is the norm for these two events there has not been much publicly made available regarding the plans. This is done primarily in the interests of public security. We will be releasing any and all information across our websites – docklandscc.com.au and visitdocklands.com.au in the coming weeks along with our Facebook page - Visit Docklands Melbourne.
